Our School 

Chaguanas South Secondary School is built on the core values of Equality, Teamwork, Encouragement, Nurturing, Integrity, Fairness, Harmony, and Respect.

Chaguanas South Secondary School community comprises 683  students, 55 teachers, 6 Civil Service staff members and 6 support staff.

 

Our curriculum encompasses academic subjects: Mathematics, Information Technology, English A, English B, Social Studies, Spanish, Geography, Integrated Science, Biology, Physics, Agricultural Science, Principles of Business, Principles of Accounts, Technical Drawing, Physical Education and Sport, Food, Nutrition and Health Technical, Textiles and Clothing Technical, Drama, Music and  Visual Arts.

As well as, Technical/Vocational subjects (CVQ): Welding, Grow Box, Commercial Food Preparation, Fabric Design, Printing and Graphic Arts, Metal Work Engineering.

Extra-curricular and Co-curricular activities include:  Tassa, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Football, Cricket, Drama, Book reading competitions, steel pan playing, East Indian dancing, Hindi classes and structured Religious Instruction classes for all religions.

​

A vibrant House system that comprise of house colours such as Blue- Tiger Sharks, Red- Scorpions, Green-Pythons , Yellow- Mystic Jaguars and Purple- Phenomenal Dragons.

​

Teaching and learning at our school is built on partnership with all stakeholders especially parents through our active P.T.A. and the community via our School Board, effective discipline structures and processes and strong instructional leadership in a nurturing and caring environment.

 

These are key success factors to guarantee the all-round development of our students from Form 1 to 5.
